FAQ

Asked often, answered honestly.

Everything families usually want to know before booking. If your question isn’t here, just ask — replies come within a day or two.

When should I book a newborn session?

Ideally while you’re still pregnant — most families book during the second trimester. Sessions are pencilled in around your due date and confirmed once baby arrives, so an unpredictable arrival date is completely fine.

The classic sleepy, curled-up photographs work best between five and fourteen days new, but older newborns are always welcome — the session simply becomes a little more awake and bright-eyed.

And maternity photos — what’s the best week?

Between 28 and 36 weeks is the sweet spot: the bump is beautifully round, and you’re usually still comfortable enough to enjoy an hour of being photographed. If you’re expecting twins or measuring ahead, aim a little earlier.

Is newborn posing safe?

Yes — safety comes before any photograph. I’m trained in safe newborn posing: babies are never forced into positions, supporting hands are always within reach (and edited out where needed), and the studio is kept warm, calm and clean. Any pose baby doesn’t settle into, we simply skip.

What should we wear?

Soft, simple and comfortable. Plain tops in cream, white, sage and earthy neutrals photograph beautifully and keep the attention on faces and connection. Avoid big logos and busy patterns if you can.

For maternity sessions there’s a studio wardrobe of flowing gowns and drapes you’re welcome to use — and for newborn sessions, baby needs nothing at all; wraps, layers and props are all here.

How long does a session take?

Maternity, family and branding sessions usually run 60–90 minutes. Newborn sessions are slower — allow two to three hours, with feeds, changes and cuddle breaks built into the timing. Cake smash sessions are about an hour, including the (very thorough) clean-up.

Can partners, siblings and grandparents join?

Please bring them! Family frames are so often the ones you treasure most. Siblings are usually photographed first, while their patience is freshest, and are then free to relax while we focus on baby.

When and how do we receive our photos?

Within two weeks of your session you’ll receive a private online gallery of fully edited, high-resolution images to download and keep — with print rights included. Fine-art prints, frames and albums are available to order directly from the gallery if you’d like them.

What if baby arrives early, or someone is unwell?

Life with small people is unpredictable — rescheduling is always free and judgement-free. If anyone in the family is unwell, we simply move the session; newborn dates stay flexible by design.

Where is the studio, and is there parking?

The studio is in Coventry, UK, with easy access from Warwickshire and the wider West Midlands, and free parking right outside. The exact address is shared when you book. Outdoor and at-home sessions are also available across the area.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes — vouchers are available for any session type or amount, and they make a lovely baby-shower or new-grandparent gift. See the gift vouchers page or get in touch and I’ll arrange one within a day or two.
