Christmas Is Coming to the Studio
There is something special about the moment the studio starts to look a little more like Christmas.
The lights go on, the greenery comes out, the tree slowly takes shape and suddenly, even though Christmas is still a little way away, you can already feel it in the room.
This year, I wanted the Christmas set to feel warm, cosy and genuinely magical — like stepping into a beautiful Christmas morning at home.
Every part of the set has been arranged by hand, with real decorative details, layers of greenery, warm lights, ornaments, candles, little trees and plenty of soft textures. Nothing has been added simply to fill a space. Every detail has been chosen to create an atmosphere that feels timeless and welcoming.
And perhaps most importantly, this isn't an artificial Christmas background.
It is a real set, created here in the studio, ready for real families to step into.
I love the little details: the glow of the Christmas tree, the soft blankets, the warm wooden tones, the candles and lanterns, the little presents underneath the tree and that feeling of being somewhere warm and cosy while the world outside is getting colder.
Because Christmas photographs don't have to feel overly posed.
Some of my favourite images happen when children are simply being themselves — sitting by the tree, exploring the decorations, cuddling up with their parents or getting completely distracted by all the little things around them.
That's the feeling I want this year's sessions to have.

The studio is now getting ready to welcome families for this year's Christmas sessions.
Bookings will officially open on 20 October.
If you've been thinking about having your family photographs taken this Christmas, keep the date in your diary. The Christmas season always seems to arrive sooner than we expect, and I can't wait to see this little set filled with families, children, laughter and plenty of Christmas magic.
For now, the studio is ready.
The tree is decorated.
The lights are glowing.
