A Summer Evening in the Lavender Fields
Some photo sessions stay with you long after you’ve packed the camera away.
Last Sunday was one of those evenings.
The lavender fields were in full bloom, filling the air with their unmistakable fragrance while the soft summer breeze gently moved through the flowers. As the sun slowly dropped towards the horizon, the light became warmer with every passing minute — the kind photographers quietly hope for all week.
My model arrived wearing a simple white dress that matched the peaceful surroundings perfectly. There was nothing complicated about the session. No elaborate posing, no pressure to perform. We simply walked through the lavender rows, talked, laughed and allowed the evening to unfold naturally.
One of the things I love most about outdoor photography is that nature does half of the work. Every gust of wind creates movement. Every change in sunlight tells a different story. Sometimes the most beautiful photographs happen in the few seconds between poses, when someone forgets about the camera completely.
The lavender created the perfect backdrop without ever stealing the attention. Instead, it framed every portrait with soft shades of purple while the golden light wrapped everything in warmth.
These sessions are never just about beautiful photographs.
They’re about slowing down for an hour, enjoying the fresh air and creating memories that feel genuine rather than staged.
As the sun disappeared and the evening became cooler, we captured the final images of the day. Looking through them afterwards reminded me why summer is one of my favourite seasons for outdoor portraits.
Simple moments.
Beautiful light.
Real smiles.
Sometimes that’s all you need.
If you’ve ever dreamed of your own portrait session surrounded by nature, lavender season is one of the most magical times of the year. And while the flowers only bloom for a short time, the memories—and the photographs—last far longer.
